The Network Is The Key

As the leading Egyptian shipping services agency, we have a lot to live up to in one of the world’s busiest maritime regions. It is something we have been doing for many years and as an increasing number of vessels come into Egyptian waters, they need support services they can call on at short notice and are reliable.

Safina has the experience and people across every Egyptian port to offer comprehensive agency support to handle cargo, crew issues, documentation, Suez Canal tolls, bunkering and husbandry services.

Safina provides comprehensive ship agency services across all Egyptian ports because with a steady stream of traffic using the Suez Canal from across the globe there is a need for reliable support once in Egyptian waters.

Safina acts to preserve and protect the interest of shipowners and charterers as a full-fledged local partner and by combining our decades of expertise with local on the ground knowledge we can ensure that your vessels, crew and cargo are in safe hands.

Safina Shipping is also a maritime logistics service operator and we come with vast experience of handling all different cargoes including bulk, break bulk containerized and project cargo.

We also offer comprehensive maritime logistics services to ensure the safety and accurate delivery of your cargo thanks to our detailed knowledge of shipowners, charterers, cargo owners and through the work of our stevedores who operate through our sister companies and former group (IACC Group).

This enables us to be a real partner for your needs and ensure a very high standard of delivery as a liner agency offering liner husbandry services, freight forwarding, chartering and high-quality break bulk and project logistics.

Safina Shipping Services is also a leading provider of integrated maritime, cargo and logistics solutions and, as a family-owned and operated business with more than 40 years regional and international expertise, we employ all available resources to offer swift and cost-effective solutions for our partners and customers.

Look at the words on our website: “We take care of your vessel, cargo, crew and cash, acting as a true local partner for owners, charterers and cargo shippers and receivers.” We have a strong belief in standards and an even stronger adherence to working in partnership with our customers.

The maritime world has always traded on understanding and agreement; the ability to deliver on the promises makes for good business. Safina grew from a business running its own ships to the leading ship services management operation in Egypt, so we naturally understand what shipowners and charterers need; we have been there ourselves and can anticipate and define needs; we speak the same maritime language.

Ships calling at Egyptian ports need a variety of services that in words and on-screen all look and sound familiar. Yet they need to be relevant and adaptable to different ships, crews, circumstances and regulations.

The handling of cash, the correct paperwork and forms for customs, visas and possible transits through the Suez Canal – all matters Safina deals with on a daily basis. Think of us as a valued local partner and it works: we represent you in the way you want because we understand the mechanics of your business.

We talk often about standards because we want to set ourselves apart from our peers. We say we have vast experience handling all different cargoes including bulk, break bulk, containerized and project cargo - because we have. We also have a commitment to high standards and the judgment on that comes from our returning customers. It’s always nice to greet them once again.

In 2016, 1,066 Japanese ships used Suez versus the 1,172 in 2015 (-9 percent), for a 6.3 percent decrease in spending on transit tolls, which came to $352 million. In 2016, the number of ships that passed through the Panama Canal also decreased by 4.8 percent.

But this was due to the fact that the ships used were larger, because the capacity of the ships that can pass through the canal increased from 5,000 TEU in 2016 to 14,000 TEU. The Japanese companies’ spending in Panama increased to $303.5 million, +2.6 percent compared to the previous year.
